Mission Statement:

 

The West Harrison Neighborhood Association (WHNA) is a volunteer organization consisting of concerned citizens who are dedicated to support the preservation, enhancement and improvement to the quality of life issues that affect our community and our town.

 

The WHNA Board of Directors and its’ membership will strive to promote neighborhood awareness and  collaboration and also facilitate/implement charitable programs which serve the West Harrison community.

 

The WHNA, whenever possible, will communicate and share our organization’s beliefs, views, concerns, ideas, suggestions and/or recommendations with all appropriate or interested parties.


Purpose Statement:

 The purposes for which the corporation has been formed are as follows:
  • To provide a forum, through general meetings of the WHNA and its committees for pursuing a variety of goals beneficial to the West Harrison community.
  • To help improve the quality of life, safety, general characteristics and values of the neighborhoods as defined within the West Harrison community.
  • To identify, promote and collaborate on existing or new opportunities and ventures that will help to further unite the community.
  • To present issues or concerns of the WHNA membership to the appropriate officials of the Town/Village of Harrison, NY and to work towards resolution on behalf of the WHNA membership.
  • When appropriate, issues or concerns of the WHNA membership may also be presented to external representatives or officials outside of the Town/Village of Harrison, NY.

(a) The corporation shall be a Type B corporation pursuant to Section 201 of the Not-For-Profit Corporation Law.

(b) The corporation shall act and operate exclusively as a non-profit corporation pursuant to the laws of the State of New York,
and to act and operate as a charitable organization by helping to improve the conditions of the community, lessening the burdens of local government and helping to prevent juvenile delinquency while representing the interests of residents or business owners within West Harrison, NewYork. We will also work with our local legislature to help preserve and improve upon quality of life issues or areas and help facilitate or enable services which bring benefit to the community.

(c) The corporation shall engage in any and all charitable activities or pursuits, which remain in accordance with legally established New York State Laws and are also in accordance with the organization's formal by-laws.

(d) The corporation shall engage in lawful purposes, activities and pursuits, which are in accordance with Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code and Section 201 of the Not-For-Profit Corporation Law.
